The Mage's spells let it kill or cripple the enemy so that your own few units (cheap hiring costs) don't take losses (no rehiring costs). In comparison, the Warrior's troops are almost as strong despite being much fewer in numbers, cost much less to maintain, and you've got awesome Rage support on top of it all. With more limited Rage/spell options it tend to be more boring, too. It's all very expensive and not very strong. Costs more to keep your army full, and since you have to do damage via your troops, you lose more units during battle so it costs more to replace troops after a fight. The result is a huge army, with units that aren't particularly strong, with limited spell/companion support. this time it's especially painful.Ī couple games back, the middle class was changed from having a medium army to having the largest army, and in Dark Side all the skills seem to be about increasing that already-large army's size (more Leadership, reduction in Leadership costs for units). Oddly enough I've always favored the "middle" class even though it generally was indeed weaker, but. Haven't played the game much yet, much less with all classes, so I have no idea.
